ABOUT US
The Nursing Department at Canon-McMillan School District is staffed with Certified School Nurses (CSN), Registered Nurses (RN) and a Licensed Practical Nurse(LPN). As health care professionals we work together to foster the growth, development and educational achievement of each student. We help each student reach and maintain their maximum health and educational potential by promoting a safe and healthy environment for all.
Canon-McMillan School Nurses support health and learning in the following ways:
- Provide health counseling
- Administer medication
- Perform medical procedures necessary to maintain student and staff health in the school setting
- Perform health screenings as mandated by the PA Department of Health
- Assess and treat illnesses and injuries occurring during school hours
- Review and monitor immunizations as per PA Department of Health regulations
- Provide health education and wellness counseling
- Provide support and coordination of students with chronic health concerns
- Assist families in obtaining health care services
- Serve as a resource to faculty, administration, parents and students
